DESCRIPTION

The works carried out at the Rectorate II Building of the University of Valencia involved the complete rehabilitation of the roof, improving both its waterproofing performance and thermal efficiency.

The project began with the temporary removal of the existing photovoltaic installation and the demolition of the existing roof build-up, including the removal of gravel ballast, thermal insulation, and the bituminous membrane.

Once the substrate had been properly prepared and regularized, a new waterproofing system based on spray-applied cork was installed, providing a continuous solution with excellent waterproofing and thermal insulation properties.

The thermal insulation was then reinstated, and a new filtering slab layer was installed to protect the system and ensure proper roof drainage and long-term durability.

This intervention completely renewed the roof system, improving its watertightness while contributing to greater energy efficiency and extending the service life of the building.
